Aid packages include a combination of scholarships, grants, loans, and student jobs. The amount of aid awarded depends on many factors, including family income and assets, and the number of children in college.

18% of HGU undergraduates are Pell Grant recipients.

100% of HGU tuition is covered by scholarships and grants for families earning less than $75,000.

59% of HGU undergraduates receive need based financial aid.

Handong Admissions Scholarship

1. Handong Conerstone Scholarship

- Handong Cornerstone Scholarship is granted to highly-qualified international students from designated developing countries based on document evaluation and interviews. 

 

2. Outstand International Students

 Select international students from non-developing countries who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and have characteristics sought by the university. - Select up to 3 students; including freshmen and transferring students (excluding Handong Cornerstone Scholarship recipients)

Handong Sponsored Scholarship

 

  • Hyundong Scholarship

  • This scholarship is given to the student with the highest SAT score in each entering freshman class. The Hyundong Scholarship covers tuition and registration fees and provides a monthly stipend of 200 thousand won over a period of four years. Note: The recipient is disqualified if he or she does not maintain a B+ average, withdraws from school temporarily, or receives an F grade.

 

  • Entrance Scholarship

  • These scholarships are given to students with the highest entrance grades on Korean scholastic achivement test and are awarded as follows:Top 1%: exemption from tuition and registration fees (1 year)Top 5%: exemption from 70% of tuition (1 year)Top 10%: exemption from school support association fees (entering semester only) Note: A recipient is disqualified if he or she does not maintain a B+ average, withdraws from school temporarily, or receives an F grade.

 

  • Merit Scholarship

  • Merit Scholarships are given to students with the highest grades while in attendance at the university (for freshmen, top 1% of class) and are awarded as follows:Top students in each School: exemption from tuition and registration fees (following semester).Top 5% of each School: exemption from 70% of tuition (following semester)Top 10% in each School: exemption from university support association fees (following semester)

 

  • Korean Veteran Scholarship

  • An exemption from tuition and registration fees for students whose parent is either a Korean veteran or national service personnel (4 years).Note: Student must maintain a GPA of C or higher.

 

  • Service Scholarship

  • This Scholarship is awarded to students who are recognized as having rendered outstanding service to the school, and covers tuition and registration fees for the following semester in full or in part.

 

  • National Examinationn Scholarship

  • This scholarship is awarded to students who have passed a national licensing examination in one of the following areas: law, administration, technical skill or foreign affairs. Tuition and registration fees are covered in full or in part.

 

  • Labor Scholarship (Work/Study Program)

  • The Labor Scholarship is a monthly stipend given to students working in various departments on campus.

 

  • Academic Pursuit Scholarship

  • These scholarships are awarded to students with financial difficulties, students who are supporting others, and handicapped students. Academic Pursuit Scholarships cover tuition and registration fees in full or in part.

 

Outside Sponsored Scholarship

 

  • Onnuri Church Scholarship

  • Total or partial exemption from tuition and registration fees for children of clergy on the basis of GPA or financial need; total or partial exemption from dormitory management expenses for other students on the basis of GPA or financial need.

 

  • Handong Global University Church Scholarship

  • Total or partial exemption from tuition and registration fees on the basis of GPA or financial need.

 

  • Hyoam Scholarship

  • Total or partial exemption form tuition and registration fees awarded to students chosen for study abroad.

 

  • Jooshim Foundation Scholarship

  • Total or partial exemption from tuition and registration fees on the basis of GPA or financial need.

 

  • Shalom Scholarship

  • Total or partial exemption from tuition and registration fees for students with financial need.

 

  • Sungseop Scholarship (Korean Residents in the U.S.)

  • Partial exemption from tuition and registration fees for students with financial need who demonstrate Handong spirit.

 

  • Parents' Association Scholarship

  • Total or partial exemption from tuition and registration fees for students with financial need.

 

  • Korean Foundation Scholarship

  • Exemption from tuition and registration fees for select list of students with high academic marks. (4 years) No-interest loans of up to 1 million won for students from agricultural or fishing communities.

 

  • Korean Marines Scholarship/Korean Army Scholarship

  • Awarded to students aspiring to join the Marines or Army; covers tuition and registration fees for four years.

 

  • Handong Nanum Testimony Scholarship

  • This scholarship is given to students who are selected testimony on Handong Nanum Testimony Contest.

 

  • Handong Cornerstone Scholarship

  • Awarded to highly-qualified international students from designated developing countries. It covers Tuition & Housing fees(8semesters). Only the first entering year will be exempt from the GPA requirements (1st and 2nd semester of entering year). Recipients must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 each semester(from 3rd to 8th regular semester) to remain eligible for the scholarship.

 

  • Outstanding Entrance Grade

  • Awarded to highly-qualified students at the discretion of the Dean of admissions. Each year, 3student from non-developing countries are selected. [Type A] One student: Exempt form university registration fee/ Full-tuition (renewable up to 4 semesters) [Type B] Two student : Half-tuition (renewable up to 4 semesters)
